British nurse with Ebola has stabilised
but is still in critical condition
The British nurse who was diagnosed with Ebola after returning from volunteering in Sierra Leone is still in a critical condition, but has now stabilised, the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, has said. In a statement to the Commons, Hunt praised the courage of Pauline Cafferkey, the Scottish nurse who is now seriously ill with the disease. Pauline Cafferkey is being treated at the Royal Free hospital in north London.

UK Ebola nurse Pauline Cafferkey has 'stabilised'
Miss Cafferkey, a public health nurse, was diagnosed with Ebola in December after volunteering with the charity “Save the Children” in Sierra Leone. She is being treated with experimental drugs and Mr Hunt confirmed she had received blood plasma from another British nurse, William Pooley, who recovered from an Ebola infection. Speaking in the Commons, Mr Hunt said: "I have this morning spoken to Dr Mike Jacobs, an expert in infectious diseases who is leading the team of doctors and nurses caring for Pauline at the Royal Free”.

Pauline Cafferkey, 39, of Glasgow is the first person to have been diagnosed with the virus on UK soil. British Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted that his thoughts and prayers are with Cafferkey.
